Mental Health at Christmas
Christmas can be a difficult time for many people. While others are celebrating, we may feel like hiding ourselves away. Our experience of loss - of loved ones, or employment, or health etc - may affect our mental health.
At Well Street, we have created a place to support people in good mental health. It's a wellbeing cafe that we call 'Renew 182'. Why 182? Well, it's a reminder to us from Psalm 18v2 which says:
'The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.'
Renew 182 is a quiet shared space where it's OK to not be OK. It's a place to come and engage in a hobby or activity in the company of others, a place to chat or to be still, a place to find a listening ear. We also give an opportunity, if you wish, to join in a quiet, shared rhythm of prayer: just 5 minutes or so to reflect and be led by one of our volunteers in prayer.
